We specialise in managing the full lifecycle of Three Waters projects—covering design, consenting, and construction for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. Our team has successfully delivered new treatment plants, complex upgrades, and system optimizations for councils and private clients, including Matamata Piako District Council, Hastings District Council, and Fonterra sites.

Lockerbie

The new greensand treatment plant of Matamata Piako District Council is located in the new residential subdivision of Lockerbie and produces 4 million liters per day (mld) of drinking water. DVLP managed the entire project, including the challenging resource consenting process for the site.

This project was a Greenfields build and included establishment of a temporary treatment plant to keep water supplied to residents s during the summer peak while the main plant was constructed.

Tirau

Fonterra’s Tirau site needed to replace the existing water treatment plant with new membrane technology within the same original footprint. A comprehensive methodology was developed to enable the demolition and construction of the new plant within a very condensed timeframe during Tirau’s winter shutdown.

DVLP undertook the project management for the complete project with Fonterra, and site management for demolition and civil works.

Small Communities Water Treatment

The Hastings District Council needed to produce safe treated water for its most remote communities. They commissioned a project to deliver new containerized treatment plants. Our team helped select cost-effective solutions and locations for each plant. We then completed the feasibility work to ensure that each plant was in the best possible location.

DVLP managed the resource consent process for each of the 7 sites, then produced and managed the civil designs for each through to implementation of the treatment systems.

Waingake

When Cyclone Gabrielle inundated Gisborne’s primary water source with sediment, radical upgrades were required to ensure safe drinking water.

The existing settling basin required a significant retrofit of new lamella clarifier plate settlors and sediment removal system. The challenging remote and steep working conditions, along with the need for the plant to stay operational during the upgrades, call for a detailed construction plan to facilitate civil works and the installation of approximately 180 tons of stainless-steel treatment systems.

Our team managed the works through design, planning, delivery and commissioning.

Danone Waste Water Treatment Plant

Danone Nutricia commissioned the design and construction of an upgraded treatment system at their Balclutha facility to significantly improve their wastewater quality. The upgrade resulted in a ten-fold improvement over the required discharge limits.

DVLP managed the design, construction, and commissioning of the new DAF and modified MLE treatment system, integrating it into the existing site while maintaining normal operations for this busy dairy site.
